Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) is difficult to be separated from all aspects of our daily life. In the military and national defense sector, IPR plays a very important role in any efforts to modernize the main weapons system (alutsista) or defense and security tools and equipment (alpahankam).
In this context, SHEYOPUTRA Law Office is honored for the opportunity given by the Army Polytechnic (Poltekad) to provide a public lecture on the aspects of IPR protection for intellectual creations and works of Poltekad students. As one of the educational institutions under the Command for the Development of Army Doctrine, Education and Training (Kodiklatad), Poltekad continues to improve the intellectual quality and skills of its students. They are expected to have capability to contribute their best works in order to strengthen the implementation of the main tasks and duties of the Indonesian Army as one of the main components of state defense.
IPR Advocate and Consultant Donny A. Sheyoputra, after witnessing some of the works of Poltekad’s students, stated:
“We feel very honored for the opportunity to share some basics IPR information and discuss it with the students at the Poltekad. The efforts of Poltekad Commander Brigadier General Nugraha Gumilar to increase students’ awareness, motivate them to improve their skills and understanding on their rights for their creations, deserves appreciation. In the future, we hope that Indonesia will be able to produce its own military weapons to support the main tasks of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) for our national defense as well as increasing the number of quality inventors among the soldiers themselves.”
Hundreds of Poltekad students had the opportunity to listen directly to the presentation on IPR in the defense equipment and military sectors that ended with a Q&A portion of the speaker and a direct inspection to the Poltekad laboratory which stores various superior products created by Poltekad graduates. Donny A. Sheyoputra ended this IPR socialization activity by having lunch with General Nugraha Gumilar and his staffs before leaving back to Jakarta that evening.
